In the quiet town of Thoen, nestled between rolling hills and peaceful forests, there’s a small home with a big heart. This house once belonged to Ya-Mee, our beloved grandmother, whose kindness and simple way of living inspired us to open the doors of her home to the world.
For decades, this house was filled with laughter, the aroma of home-cooked meals, and the warmth of family gatherings. Ya-Mee loved to sit in her garden, brewing herbal teas and sharing stories of the old days. She would say, "Life is best when you take time to share it with others.”
After she passed, we wanted to honor her memory and her love for the slow, simple life. We restored her home with care, keeping its soul intact
Thus, Local Life Homestay was born:
A place where guests are not just visitors but family.
A place to experience the beauty of slow living, away from the rush of modern life.
A place to connect—with nature, culture, and yourself.
Local Life Homestay (Private) is more than just a place to stay. It’s an invitation to become part of our story. From offering alms to monks at sunrise, to sharing meals made with fresh ingredients from the market, every experience reflects the heart of our community.
Our family and neighbors are your hosts, sharing not only their knowledge but their time, their laughter, and their way of life.
With only two double bedrooms, Local Life Homestay welcomes a maximum of four guests at a time. We believe in quality over quantity—offering you the chance to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of Thoen without distractions.
By keeping it small, we also honor Ya-Mee’s wisdom of living in balance, respecting our resources, and caring for the earth.
Every guest who stays with us becomes part of the Local Life family, leaving behind footprints of joy and shared experiences. Whether it’s learning to cook northern Thai dishes, cycling through quiet trails, or sitting in the garden with a cup of Butterfly Pea Flower Tea, your days here will be filled with simple pleasures.
As Ya-Mee once said, “Happiness is found in little things, shared with open hearts.”
Come join our story.
